American Politics takes an odd new twist…
As you may or may not be aware, the wet t-shirt competition that is the Presidential election has begun in earnest. Actually, it’s more of a lap-dance competition – a number of candidates dance to a popular song (either a liberal democratic jig or a god-fearing republican sway) whilst a gathered hoard of faceless suits stuff cash in their g-strings on the promise of payback later when they are elected.
A lot can happen between presidential elections, with this time being no exception. We’ve managed to find the stupidest man to hold an elected political position, which, with surely some significant causality, led to the USA free-falling; economically, politically , diplomatically and socially.
At least my dream election is still possible now that Arnie hasn’t put his hat in the presidential ring. I’m praying for a Danny De Vito (Democrat) vs Arnie (Republican) head-to-head next time round in a re-run of 80s cult film Twins.
ANYWAY…the real point of this point was the odd new twist that the political system has taken. I know that democracy has hit a new low in the States, but I just don’t get this new approach to the primaries.
Getting the Caucasus to decide who the candidates should be?! I know that Americans are often depicted as stupid, but letting some randoms from Central Europe decided who should run for President of their country is JUST TAKING IT TOO FAR!
Oh wait…maybe not
