Boo! You’re Doing it Wrong!

Quick rant here; I’m a pretty considerate guy when it comes to the environment, so when the cab I booked tonight was fromGo Green Cars I was feeling pretty good about it. (read smug). Nice guy turned up in a black Prius (first time I’ve been in one; the dashboard has got some killer informatics), popped my stuff in the boot, and of we drove; the 1.6 (thanks google) miles from work to home (I had some really bulky shit, I’m not that lazy).

And for that 1.6 miles, I had the pleasure of paying £12. Which is pretty ridiculous given that a cab from Waterloo to Wapping is normally around £10.

Now, I know that there a lot of ancillary costs associated with the whole green thing, but I also reckon that the Prius is probably a fair bit cheaper than your standard hackney black cab (£27000 vs £17-21000 for the Prius), and the costs of fuel are obviously a lot lower. Now, yes, assuming they are carbon offsetting the distance; Carbon Fund offers me a cost of, uh, $0.01.

So Go Green Cars, you’re taking the piss a little bit. I’ll be sticking to the bike for a while longer.
