What Became of the Likely Lads?

03.26.09 | Comment?

Well, one of them reverted back to the formal spelling of his name and released a mumbled and somewhat punchless debut solo single. Although I did like the lyric “she knows her tit from her tat, her Winstons from her Enochs”.

You can catch the man in the flesh at the Troxy on Commercial Road (Whitechapel) this Sunday – expect it to be mobbed. In other related news, Graham Coxon will be playing with Doherty on his upcoming tour, which really takes it to the next level.

As a huge admirer of the songwriting abilities of Mr Doherty, I won’t say anything further about his new single but instead leave you to do a little compare and contrast below.

Libertines – “France”

Peter Doherty – “Last of the English Roses”
